Aluminium composite panel is two thin aluminium skins bonded to a polyethylene or fire-rated mineral core. The result is a sheet that stays genuinely flat across a large span, weighs a fraction of solid aluminium, and can be routed and folded into clean cassette panels with crisp returns.

For storefront fascias, tenant panels, hoarding and cladding, ACP is usually the most sensible material available. It takes vinyl and direct print well, comes in a wide range of factory finishes, and does not oil-can the way thin solid aluminium does on a wide run.

Applications

  • Storefront and plaza fascia cladding
  • Multi-tenant directory and panel systems
  • Construction hoarding and site identification
  • Pylon and monument sign faces
  • Interior feature walls and column wraps

Fabrication detail

We rout-and-return panels rather than simply cutting flat sheet: the back skin and core are V-grooved, the panel is folded, and the corners are closed with welded or riveted stiffeners. That gives you a cassette with a clean 1" or 2" return and hidden fixings — a considerably better result than a flat sheet screwed to a frame.

Why it works

Benefits of aluminum composite panel (acp) signs

Stays flat across big spans

The composite core resists the rippling and oil-canning that affects thin solid aluminium on wide panels.

Light enough for simple fixing

Roughly half the weight of equivalent solid aluminium, which simplifies the sub-frame and reduces install cost.

Excellent print and vinyl surface

Factory-finished skins take direct UV print and cut vinyl cleanly with strong long-term adhesion.

Fire-rated cores available

Mineral-core FR panel is available where building code or landlord specification requires it.

FAQ

Common questions

If your question is not answered here, get in touch — we are happy to talk through the detail.

Factory-finished panels carry finish warranties in the fifteen to twenty year range and routinely outlast that in service. The finish is the limiting factor, not the panel — a PVDF coated sheet holds colour far longer than a polyester one.

In most cases yes. ACP is available in a wide range of solid colours, metallics, brushed and timber-effect finishes. Send a photo or a sample and we will source the closest available match before quoting.

It is ideal as a cabinet skin or an opaque background, but it is not translucent, so it cannot be a backlit face. It is very commonly used as the surrounding fascia with push-through acrylic letters or channel letters mounted on it.

Standard sheet is 4ft x 8ft or 5ft x 10ft. Larger areas are made as a panelised system with deliberate reveal joints, which looks intentional and allows for thermal movement — a better result than trying to hide a seam.
